Left 4 Dead Previews at 1Up and Kotaku

1UP.com has an all new preview of Left 4 Dead, the upcoming survival shooter from Valve.

I couldn't help but notice that a shotgun blast to a buddy's face hurt a lot when he was at full health, not so much when he was at half health, and less than a sliver when he was almost dead. And it didn't damage people at all when they were lying on the ground or being mauled by zombies — seems like a clever compromise. Watching your fire and not pissing off your teammates adds a lot, especially when they're going to be pulling a zombie off your back and patching you up a few minutes later.

Kotaku has their own hands-on impressions of Left 4 Dead.

The game's graphics were amazing, pushing the Source Engine to it's limits and delivering plenty of startling moments. The one off-putting thing I noticed was the gallons of blood that pour from you after an attack, it looked like, at times, that characters had a hose attached to their head or stomach, so much blood was pouring out.

These impressions came from an event held last night by EA. Also of note were the speciality drinks offered at the event. The Left 4 Dead is "fresh muddled lime wedges, mango puree, cachaca, shaken and poured over rocks."

Updates to Assassin's Creed have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Fixed a rare crash while riding the horse in Kingdom
Fixed a corruption of Altair's robe on certain graphics hardware
Cursor is now centered when accessing the Map
Fixed a few problems with Alt-Tab
Fixed a graphical bug in the final fight
Fixed a few graphical problems with dead bodies
Fixed pixellation with post-FX enabled on certain graphics hardware
Fixed a small bug in the DNA Menu that would cause the image to disappear if the arrow was clicked rapidly
Fixed some graphical corruption in Present Room with low Level Of Detail

Metal Gear Media Explosion

Update: A fifth video of the first 10 minutes of gameplay was added at the very end. There are SPOILERS contained within, so beware.

Original: A wrap party for Metal Gear Solid 4 was held last night, and with it came a lot of new media. Before we hit up the videos, I'll just make mention that the Assassin's Creed costume seen in an April Fools video will actually appear in MGS4.
